Under 16 - Match Reports U16 vs Bickley Park - Friday 13th May 2005
Orpington 137-9 (24 ovs.)
Bexley 93-9 (24 ovs.) - (Orpington won by 44 runs)

After the darkness of the week before, the OC, as they are now frequently called, turned up to a welcome of ice cold winds gusting across the pitch.

The skipper lost the toss, and the OC were put into bat on what can only be described as a 'shocker' of a pitch. Greenly was first to feel the wrath of the pitch, as he was inevitably bowled round his ankles, to a bouncer length ball. A few more failures from the top order left it down to Golden arm from the week before… A magnificent 81 steadied the ship somewhat, and did wonders for the frozen crowd. Help came in the form of Reedy (Sam Reed) for a while, but 4 ducks on the scorecard didn't look amazingly brilliant. The OC finished their 24 overs with a highly respectable 137-9, although it could have been a lot better, if it wasn't for the customary OCC collapse. 123-4 quickly became 129-9, but Siddarth and Lawrence saw it through to the end adding another 8 runs.

The Bexley innings started with Greenly and Bebbo opening the bowling. The first breakthrough came from Bebbo, although it is still a mystery how Greenly did not get a wicket with his opening spell! After 6 overs, the captain was introduced from the top end, and immediately laid down a gauntlet to the opposition with his first ball, which cut in at least a yard, to bowl the number 3! After that, what can only be described as a breathtaking spell of bowling, was witnessed by all, and the skipper ended up with magnificent figures of 5-9 from his 4 overs. After that it was pretty much a precession, as everyone except the keeper got a bowl. Greenly came back on at the end to polish off the tail, and grabbed himself a 2-for. The only slight disappointment being the failure to bowl Bexley all-out which would have resulted in an extra bowling point, but it wasn't to be…

Currently sitting 3rd, after 2 games. Not a bad start to the season!

After Matt Milner had taken an early lead the previous week, he was quickly pegged back by Tommy… Two dollies put down, and the dropped catches stakes are now even, at 2 apiece.
