Fri 7th October 2011 - Orpington CC come top of the league for the quality of our cricket wickets in the 2011 season
Orpington CC’s 1st XL played in Div 2 of the Kent Cricket League during the 2011 season. This league was officiated by independent umpires, who were asked by the league to mark the cricket pitches at each ground that they officiated at during the course of the season.
Orpington CC is delighted to announce that we came top of the league based on these umpires’ marks. This is a tremendous accolade and shows the improvements that have been made to our playing facility since the transition to employing an external contractor. This is another clear example of the Orpington CC moving forwards in the right direction to providing our members and opposition with the best playing facility that we possibly can. What a change a few short years makes even if there are a few unhappy bowlers around the club now!
