OCC Fundraising - President's Day Lottery 2009

When is the draw?
The lottery draw, which has had official approval from the London Borough of Bromley, will be held at 8pm at Westcombe Park and Orpington Sports Club, on Friday 24 July. As this is also President's Day, the draw should add a fitting climax to what is always the pinnacle of our social calendar.

What needs to be done?
A club lottery sub-committee has been formed and they will oversee the smooth running of the lottery. Tickets have already been printed, and these will be distributed to club members and associates in due course.
All we ask of you is to go out and promote the lottery and ultimately to sell as many tickets as you can. Whilst hoping that all club members will buy some lottery tickets for themselves (please be mindful of the restrictions on the sale of tickets to the U16s detailed below), the real purpose of this lottery is to raise revenue from a wider audience. We therefore challenge you all to go out and sell tickets to your families, friends, work colleagues etc etc.
When you receive your tickets you will be told which member of the sub-committee you should return your ticket stubs and collected monies to. Please do not give out tickets without collecting the money first, if you do it will be you we come to for the shortfall!
Who can buy tickets?
Anyone can buy our lottery tickets, providing that they are at least 16 years of age at the time of purchase. We would therefore ask parents/guardians of children who are under 16 to buy tickets under their own names and not those of their children where this is appropriate.
How much are the tickets?
Tickets are £1 each, and come in books of 5.
What happens if I sell all of my tickets?
Go back to your sub-commitee contact and ask for some more! We have got printed more tickets than will be initially allocated, so we will be delighted to give you some more to sell should your first batch run out.
Will the club make a profit, and if so what will it be used for?
As is explained above, the OCC are putting up cash prizes totalling £3,000 along with some other non cash prizes. We therefore need to sell this many tickets to break even, anything above this will be profit. So it's down to us, the membership, to make this a success. A lot of hard work has already gone on behind the scenes to make sure that the lottery runs as smoothly as is possible, which we hope will leave you all with the time to go out and promote it and ultimately to sell as many tickets as you can.
Our club is a non-for-profit club, so any monies raised will be used for the benefit of all of our members. We try and keep subscriptions to a minimum each year, so a successful lottery will assist us in trying to do this along with improving our equipment and facilties.
