Whistable - 213/7 (50 overs)
Orpington - 217/4 (49.4 overs - P.Sheddon 53, B.Lyon 51)
Orpington won by 3 wickets
After 3 succesive wins, whistable arrived at the occ looking for a much needed win.
Preparation was disrupted by the ever growing marquee put up for the westcombe park summer ball. We found ourselves bowling first and bradders took a wicket with the very first ball of his over. The whistable captain looking to work the ball thru the leg. An easy catch for Schmidt.
The other opener look in great touch, smashing the ball to all parts, we knew he eventually would fall bradders taking his 2nd wicket. Bradders bowled well up the hill in a strong breeze and with a wet ball in his hands.
fielding was going to be difficult bearing in mind the conditions but we should of done better, lack of concentration at times it seemed.
Yamma bowled with good control, Schmidty and wattsy bowled extremely well keeping the runs down, schmidy ended up with some impressive figures.
The mainstay for the opponents was denly’s hundred, backed up with some pinch hitting near the end.
The team’s bowling has been the major strength over the past 3 weeks and it was time for the batters to come to the party, if we had any chance of chasing down a competive score of 213.
After tea, myself and brendo began the innings, hitting the bad ball for 4 and picking up the singles, the running was excellent and the opps heads were soon down. After passing 50 the partnership ended at 99. myself smartly stumped . a great start tho.
Sanj came in at 3 and started well, brendo continued his good form and got to his 50.
The whistable slow bowlers were difficult to get away and pressure began to grow on the batsmen which caused and unnecessary run out, brendon the unlucky guy to go. Well batted
Wessel came in and hit a stylish 14 before being bowled. Sanj deserved a 50, and was caught in the deep playing a sweep
Still the job was far from over and robbo and schmidty saw us home in the last over, a very tense finish. We never make things easy!
So 4 wins in a row with sibton nxt wk, who wud bet against us making it 5.
Well done.
